Kinako is one of many Japanese ingredients made from soybeans. It is dried, milled and roasted soybean flour.
Traditionally, kinako is used as a condiment for desserts, and is especially popular when paired with mochi (rice cakes) or other wagashi (Japanese-style sweets).
